Get Involved & Support Our Mission
At AIU, we are dedicated to improving the lives of those with adrenal insufficiency through advocacy, education, and community support. Every dollar raised helps us expand emergency protocols, provide free educational resources, support legislative efforts, host patient conferences, and connect individuals with life-saving information and peer support.

Your Support Makes a Difference!
To sustain our services and meet the growing needs of the adrenal insufficient community, we need to expand our team by hiring paid staff. Reaching this goal will require a significant increase in funding, and community support is essential. There are many ways to contribute—whether by donating, starting a fundraiser, or helping spread awareness.
How Your Contributions Make an Impact
AIU has thrived thanks to the dedication of our volunteers, who have helped us make a lasting impact on the AI community. Their work has helped:
- Establish emergency protocols for adrenal insufficiency across multiple states and counties.
- Build Facebook support groups with over 12,000 members.
- Advocate for and pass legislation in Oregon ensuring K-12 school staff can administer emergency medication, an initiative now guiding efforts in other states.
- Host national and regional patient conferences, providing valuable education and support for the adrenal insufficiency community.
- Collaborate with nonprofits and research organizations to raise awareness of adrenal insufficiency.
- Provide this website filled with free, downloadable resources and support documents.
- Hold monthly meetings to share insights with researchers developing gene therapy for CAH.
- Host Zoom support meetings for parents and affected adults.
Our volunteers commitment drives our mission forward, making a lasting impact on the adrenal insufficiency community.
Funding Needs to Sustain and Grow AIU
Part-Time Executive Director – $50,000
The average full-time nonprofit director salary in Oregon is $84,000. Our current director receives a $15,000 annual stipend to help cover private health insurance and internet costs.
Part-Time Website & Store Operator – $20,000
We need a dedicated expert to manage our website and online store. Currently, we allocate $400 per month for office and product storage.
Patient Conference – $100,000
Hosting a conference for 300 attendees costs approximately $100,000. In 2023, we partnered with the Cushing’s Research and Support Foundation to share expenses.
Your support helps us continue providing vital resources to the adrenal insufficient community.
