About Adrenal Insufficiency United

Our Mission

Adrenal Insufficiency United (AIU) is dedicated to supporting individuals and caregivers affected by adrenal insufficiency; empowering them with education, resources, community building, and legislative advocacy.

Our Story

Before social media, many of us faced adrenal insufficiency alone—struggling to understand the disease while watching our loved ones suffer. The fear of not being there in a crisis weighed heavily on us, leading to feelings of anger, depression, and hopelessness. We knew better care was possible, but we were fighting separate battles.

Then came the internet and social media, and everything changed. We found each other. We realized that we were not alone—and that together, our voices could make a difference. What started as a grassroots movement of patients and loved ones—selling cupcakes, knocking on government doors—grew into Adrenal Insufficiency United (AIU).

At AIU, we believe that every person affected by adrenal insufficiency deserves a chance to reach their full potential. Our leadership is, and always will be, comprised of individuals personally impacted by AI, ensuring we never lose sight of why this organization was founded.

Adrenal insufficiency is often overlooked, leaving those affected struggling to find knowledgeable physicians and appropriate treatment. AIU is committed to support, education, and advocacy. We offer:

✔ Community Support: Engage with others through our Facebook groups, Video Support Sessions, Conferences, and Local Gatherings.

✔ Education & Resources: Explore our website for valuable information, including an archive of past conference sessions.

✔ Advocacy: We work to raise awareness, encourage understanding, and drive meaningful change, including legislative efforts.

We understand your challenges because we’ve been there. Each member of our team has a personal connection to adrenal insufficiency. Whether you’re an adult with AI, a parent, family member, friend, coworker, teacher, or healthcare provider, you are welcome here.
